Cue The Beatles. We’ve had that birthday song stuck in our head all week … well, because it’s our birthday!
It’s hard to believe that just one year ago I Want Her Job started with five friends — Katelyn Michele, a spokesmodel; Christa Thomas, a NASCAR and NFL photographer; Maghan McDowell, a magazine editor; Jennifer Echternach, an advertising account executive; and Bre Ortola, makeup artist and creator of Alchemy Mineral Blends.
And now, we’ve featured more than 70 dynamic women in various fields — from entertainment and communications to sports and politics. And we’ve cultivated a community that cares fiercely for one another.
But while we’re big believers in the power of reflection, we also realize it’s more important to look forward than back.
To look toward a day when we can provide educational scholarships to thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of women.
To look toward a day when industries are no longer male-dominated.
And to look toward a day when more than 15 women run Fortune 500 companies.
We can do this, because we’ve already done the hard part by taking the first step. It started with us — together — one year ago. And it continues with us — together — every single day.
To celebrate, I Want Her Job has partnered with the LA office of Wong, Doody, Crandall, Wiener, an advertising agency, and CocoKouture, a fashion magazine led by former leading lady Caroline Orlando, to launch our first-ever intern search.
That’s right. We want to give three lucky members of our community a chance to learn more about their dream industry, understand what a “day on the job” is really like, and of course, provide mentorship to those of you out there who never stop dreaming.
So, who is looking to hire someone as fabulous as you?
