FAQ

What is I Want Her Job?

I Want Her Job® is an award-winning website featuring curated career conversations with women and men charting the future of business. It's a community built to encourage the individual growth of career-minded individuals by fostering a love of learning, curiosity, and a desire to help others. From work advice to 'day in the life' experiences, consider I Want Her Job your big sister in all things career.

How do I become a Leading Lady or contribute to I Want Her Job?

Head on over to our Contact page and share why you or someone fabulous you know should be featured on the site. I receive a high volume of requests, so I'll reach out to you if you're selected for an interview.

How did you start I Want Her Job?

In 2010 I started thinking about how great it would be if there was a site that asked the very questions I was asking; a site that served as a resource for making introductions, connections and helping others figure out if a certain job would be the right fit. You try shoes on, so why wouldn’t you “try on” a job before applying? I combined a column I had called I Want Her Job on my now-defunct fashion blog with the idea of digitizing informational interviews and I Want Her Job was born.

Is running the website your full-time job?

Nope! I also raise a daughter and lead a health care marketing team. I work on I Want Her Job in the evening after my little one goes to bed, on weekends, and during vacations. I feel like this gives my content a distinct edge as I'm in the workforce on a day-to-day basis just like you.

What’s your take on sponsored content?

I work in marketing in my day job, so I am always open to partnering with advertisers and sponsors. That said, all writing on the site is completely original, written by, and owned by I Want Her Job®/Burrowes Media LLC. I will, from time to time, offer sponsored content and that content will be labeled as such.

Why haven’t I received an answer to my email yet?

I receive oodles of I Want Her Job-related emails a week, in addition to my day job inbox. I do my best to respond to as many messages as I can. That said, please don’t take a non-response personally. I work on this site in my personal time, and as such, I prioritize creating content.

Which interview is your favorite?

There are so many interviews on the site that have touched me. Every time I hit “post” on a piece of content, it’s another win for women and means to connect us. But, the younger version of me would have thought I was the coolest person in the world for featuring Ann M. Martin, author of the best-selling The Baby-Sitters Club series.

If you could interview anyone, who would it be?

Given the opportunity, there are more ladies than I can count who would move me to pop a bottle of champagne. Nominate an astounding woman you know here.

What’s next for I Want Her Job?

I ask myself that question often. As of right now, the answer is "Stay tuned." At the moment, I have more ideas than time! #CreativeGirlProblems
